Job Scam
Las Vegas, Nevada
Just seems too good to be true!! Received several e-mails from this company asking me to register for a webinar. I participated in the webinar today. The first thing that bothered me was I didn't have any contact with any of the other participants. It was only by submitting questions to the person running the webinar. And listening to his interaction with some unknown person coming into the conference room providing updates on who had signed up already, who needed to supply additional information, etc. I could not afford to pay $200 to do this today, so made arrangements to pay at a later date. However, I was able to "reserve a spot on the team." I've dealt with many recruiters and this just seems fishy to me. Not to have any experience in this line of work, but be able to recruit nurses, etc. without any knowledge of state requirements just does not feel right. I'm an administrative assistant by training. What do I know about recruiting nurses or IT professionals? I don't believe this is a legitimate job offer. Why would you be asked for $200 (ok, $199.95) to join a company before anything else is offered? My second issue is why would you be required to use PayPal to submit your payment and only PayPal? Would they use your payment information to try to take more money out of your account or credit card? Third, when I called the number provided during the webinar, I had to pick a name or extension number in order to actually talk to someone only to be told "the account is full" and then be provided other extension numbers before I talked to a man called "John." I believe this is nothing more than a scam to get as much money as they can from people who sign up and keep trying to scam money from unsuspecting people until they moved on to another group of people. Am I correct?
