Casa Del Gatos Burmese

Breeder sells sick Burmese kittens

Rockwall, Texas

Sick kittens sent, and infection was perminant and incurable, and spread to other cats in the family. Seriours herpes and FIP. Kitten sneezing for over a year. Owner is dishonest and keeps claiming that her kittens are just fine, yet she admits to using antiviral med on them. She keeps them in crates, they are afraid to be out when they come. Breeder also sent the wrong sex cats, pretended it was a mistake. On the good side she has very sweet kittens, might just be the breed.

My first thought upon reading this post was "Did I write that??" The identical thing happened to us! We brought home a Burmese male and mixed-breed female from this breeder, both with sniffles she attributed to allergies. The boy kitty did not thrive and continually had respiratory issues - the female mixed breed did somewhat better. Then the neurological issues set in, until finally the baby boy couldn't even walk. We had him put down and had an autopsy performed - FIP. We were able to nurse the female through it. We spent hundreds on the cat, over $1000 on vet. Emailed the breeder many times and she said she'd send us a check for the cat, which never came. Then she said she'd replace the cat. Never happened. I've sent at least 3 emails, with no response. She said her cats were NEVER sick and this was an anomaly. Apparently, I should have googled the breeder prior to buying... STAY AWAY FROM THIS BREEDER!
I purchased a kitten from Casa del Gatos Dec 2011 he was flown to me - too far to drive. In July 2012 he started running a fever and became lethargic. After many vet visits and much money spent on tests ($1200) my vet said he most likely had FIP. When I told the breeder this she said she had no FIP in her cats, he couldn't have gotten it from her cattery. I told her my vet said he had come to me with the disease and she said that was not possible. He also tested positive for an infectious anemia disease which my vet said he got as a kitten- she denies she had ever had a problem with fleas - which causes this disease. We don't have felas where I live. Dec. 1 (he was 14 months old) I had to have him put to sleep. The necropsy report confirmed the diagnosis of FIP. She did agree to give me a replacement cat but after all the research I have done on this cattery I would NEVER get another cat from her, free or not. Having this beautiful kitten go through so much pain and suffering is a travesty. I have read many comments regarding this cattery -so many of the words she used with other people were also used on me. She always has an excuse for a problem. I had asked her for the paperwork on the kitten - after I'd had him altered, her reply to me, I've been so busy, my roof was leaking bla bla bla. Not sure what that has to be with getting me the paperwork. I never did get it. Again - don't use this breeder - do your research.
