Pam Martin of Solacefarm

Bad Cat Breeder News from Royse City, Texas Siberian Cat Community

There is a video circulating around the Siberian Community that was made by two licensed, bonded private investigators located in Texas. The Subject of this video and written info is Pam Martin of Solacefarm cattery. This 20 minute video captures the facilities of Solacefarm.

In essence Solacefarm raises all of her cats in a metal building located some 50 to 100 ft from her home. ALL the cats are housed there, including the new born's with the Moms..... they are housed in a large dog carrier located on the top of the midwest cages that are occupied by her male cats.

The video show that there is an 8 x 8 ft enclosure within the building containing 14 cats. This is only one caged area. There are other caged areas jam packed with cats. There is also an outside area with cats that have a roof but no walls so they are exposed to the temperatures of the outside all year long.

Additionally there is footage of all the *junk* (empty litter pails and rusty cars) laying in the weeds around the buildings. Videos can't record odor so the investigators made a comment in their written report about the smell that was overwhelming. Since then people (as in potential cat buyers that left the facility in disgust) have come forward to testify that they too were overwhelmed with the smell and that they validate the deplorable conditions cited by the private investigators. Most people said that they had to go home and shower to get the smell of their clothes.

Additionally the CFA animal Welfare Committee has been investigating Solacefarm. Insisting on a cattery inspection. Though IMHO asking her to get an inspection by a veterinarian of her choosing does not constitute any major changes for the better.

Perhaps CFA is sweeping this under the rug My understanding is that the reason that the investigation was done because Pam Martin of Solacefarm intentionally sold a sick kitten to an unsuspecting buyer and then completely turn her back on that buyer using the credentials of CFA breed chair to *scare* the buyer into submissiveness. The reports from the pet buyer indicate that kitten died of FIP 20 days before its first birthday.

The pet buyer initiated the complaint against Pam Martin And Solacefarm (Applause applause to the buyer) The kitten was not bred by Pam Martin but rather Larry Munchrath and in turn Pam sold it to this pet buyer. The kitten was sold with a raging URI, was underweight and monorchid. Ms Martin offered a 3 month health guarantee.

In light of all this true information I firmly believe that Pam Martin of Solace Farm should *do the right thing* and resign as CFA Siberian Breed Chair. Breed Chairs are suppose to be above reproach and be setting a GOOD example. Pam Martin is an embarrassment to the Siberian and really needs to do the right thing for once and RESIGN.

I am the person mentioned in the notice that raised the kitten. No one ever contacted me about this or it would have been replaced or refunded. It's too bad that people do not give the breeders a chance to make things right by doing it anonymously. Pam has always made good any problems people have contacted her about. Her cattery was inspected and passed.
Almost all cats have the corona virus, and something in its life or surroundings made the virus mutate and that is what FIP is. It is deadly and most breeders do guarantee that their kittens do not have FIP. Showing titers only means that they were exposed to the virus, just like humans develop titers if they are vaccinated. That does not mean they get the disease. It means they were exposed to it. That is a big difference.
I do, and would have replace that kitten, even though it was sold by someone else. It is quite possible that it died of something else, and they just used that as an excuse. Who really konws since the person never contacted me. I know Pam has some people that do not like her and will come up with issues, but this is serious and should have been dealt with.
Some people will say anything to get another kitten, or refund and might even still have the kitten. If there was proof, or a problem they should have contacted the seller, then the breeder and all would have been taken care of. This is why I find this scam notice a bit shaky in verity. There should have been nothing to hide, so why be anonymous unless you just wanted to get a 'dig' in due to personality issues with another person.
It was recently, so there is still time to refund this person with another kitten.
Larry Munchrath, who has always satisfied the customers as best as he knows. Check the testimonials on the cat page.
