Don'tlike to pay their employees!
Yves does not like paying his employees. As of right now they around 1 and half months behind in there paychecks and they think no one has noticed. You may get your paycheck that was due at the end of may in mid-july and wont see another check for 3 week. But the best part is when you finally get your long awaited pay check they will tell you not to cash it for a couple days.... I have even had a paycheck bounce and all they said was for me to re-process it???? It is called a hot check and that is ILLEGAL!!!
As a server you don't make that much hourly so tips are much more important. But of course they like to hold on to your tips from tables as well. They have even held tips for over 2+ weeks. But GOD FORBID if you question where your money is- Yves will give you some bullshit like "Everyone has money problems" or "I have never had employees so desperate for their paychecks". But my favorite is when he asked how much I had in savings- HOW am I suppose to have a savings when I never know when or if I am going to get paid.
It would make it a little better if they were apologetic about not having the funds to pay their employees but they aren't- They are defensive, rude, sexist towards women, and flaunt their money by wearing rolexs and driving land rovers. Yves expects his employees to be extremely grateful for the opportunity to work at el meson whether or not they are getting paid.
I wouldn't expect El Meson to be around much longer- because not paying your employees is illegal!

I had pretty much the same experience, only I chose to get out quickly. Of the 2 paychecks I recieved, 1 bounced. They blame me and are now questioning my hours, receipts, etc. I am having to jump through hoops to get what he owes me, but I honestly doubt I'll ever see it. His wife Marisela has told me not to contact her anymore. All this, and he still tells me I should come back and work for him at his new restaurant Sofi's on South 1st, where La Reyna used to be.
